Polymorphic: Profilin’
Published by on Monday, June 15, 2009
Work continues on TaeoUI.
This week I integrated the cast bar and map. That means that other than the chat windows and status bars, the main panel is complete. Slowly, it’s beginning to look like the fancy screenshots on the other page =). The most important change I made this week, though, was behind the scenes. I decided to overhaul the (three week old) profile system to take advantage of the AceDB library, which allows us to reconfigure the UI without a reload. In the future, this gives us the option of customizing different UIs for different situations. Potentially, you could have Grid upfront and center during a raid, and then hidden for soloing. Any detectable situation is fair game (PvP, Arena, Raids, Zone-based, etc). Hopefully, we’ll be able to bring you this feature soon after the initial release of the UI. Next week is unit frames!

I am looking VERY forward to this feature in anticipation. Having grid or VuhDo switch on and off in the middle will be a big plus instead of out in the corner.
I’ve commented on this compilation on WoW.com already, but let me say it again: I’ve browsed through many different UIs, but this one is my favourite. However, I can’t use it effectively, because I don’t have a widescreen.
Are there any plans - in 2.0 or earlier - to make it useful for 1280×1024?
@pietrex Take a look at our blog posts regarding the development of Taeo UI 2.0. The idea is that no matter what your resolution the UI will automatically scale to fit.
The only drawback of using a non-widescreen resolution will be that you won’t have any room for elements to the left and right of the main panel.
OK, thanks for the answer. Maybe it’s time to buy a widescreen then.
@pietrix For conventional resolutions in 2.0, we provide the option of moving the stuff on the edges to the top of the screen, or scaling the UI horizontally to make more room on the edges. Either way should work out fine.
When do you plan to release a beta of 2.0? I’m really excited about this now.
I know it is a work in progress. Ive DL the latest available and in messing around I cant seem to find how to configure/move my casting bar. All of the other stuff I can.
I was wondering if someone could explain how and or what mod that is for the casting bar. Thanks.
NM found it.
